According to the financial report, in the 16 markets of Western Europe, sales of SPAR increased by 12% to 25.48 billion euros, or 64% of the global turnover of SPAR.

The grocery retailer said the continued expansion of the 11 SPAR countries operating in Central and Eastern Europe resulted in a like-for-like sales increase of 8.9% compared to 2019.

Across Africa and the Middle East, the SPAR brand strengthened its presence in 15 countries and continued its growth path with sales of 6.2 billion euros, an increase of 2.8% compared to to 2019.

SPAR South Africa generated sales of 5.22 billion euros over the period.

SPAR in Asia-Pacific achieved a solid performance of 1.5% year-on-year growth and € 1.88 billion in retail sales.

SPAR China recorded retail sales of 1.55 billion euros and annual sales growth of 7.9% on a like-for-like basis in local currency.

In Australia, SPAR saw revenue growth of 16.5%, with convenience and neighborhood retail emerging as a popular and winning format as communities increasingly bought locally.

SPAR Pakistan and SPAR Sri Lanka continued their growth momentum of 38% and 63% respectively.
