Brazil approves imports of Sputnik V and Covaxin vaccines

Brazilian health regulator Anvisa voted on Friday to approve imports of Russian Sputnik V and Indian Covaxin Covid-19 vaccines, but with conditions on both.

Anvisa’s 4-1 board vote follows April decisions to reject Brazilian states’ request for Sputnik V due to a lack of data to ensure its safety, quality and effectiveness, and dismiss Covaxin in March because it did not meet Anvisa’s manufacturing standards.
